Sunburst Shutters was started in the early '70s in Phoenix, AZ, by people who believed they could make a better shutter than any other on the market.

The ambition to be the best shutter company has turned every aspect of the window treatment business on its head. Sunburst offered an in-home consultation where design specialists brought samples into a customer’s residence to show them the steps in choosing the best window treatment product. With that in mind, Sunburst set out to hire sales staff that were attentive and friendly – and, at the same time, experienced and helpful. Homeowners across the nation quickly fell in love with Sunburst Shutters.

In the '70s, draperies and blinds were the common window treatments in most homes. That’s when Sunburst Shutters gave consumers a longer lasting and energy-efficient window treatment: plantation shutters. 

Originally, the company offered wood shutters solely. But it was instantly obvious that Sunburst should create the ultimate shutter – one that provides premium energy efficiency, and looks as charming 20 years from now as the day you purchased it. After much research, sampling, and testing, Sunburst revealed its Polywood Shutters. 

Once Sunburst offered the best shutters in the industry, they grew extensively, opening locations across the US. In 2008, Sunburst Shutters extended its selection into blinds, shades, draperies, and window film – and changed its name to Sunburst Shutters & Window Fashions.
